Welcome to 4-K, a classroom designed for the sole purpose of creating a safe, fun learning environment, which also engages children’s minds.

Hello, my name is Laurie Klopfenstein. I am a graduate of Mt. Pleasant Community School District (1977), Luther College (1981), and Viterbo University (2004). During my years at Luther, I received my Bachelor of Science degrees in elementary education, physical education as well as my coaching endorsement. I also pursued and received a minor in art. I received my masters degree in elementary education from Viterbo University, LaCrosse, Wisconsin. I have always loved being in the classroom, both as an educator and a student. As an educator, I find that the challenges of the classroom are constantly pushing me to find ways to meet the varied needs of the children. Therefore, differentiated instruction is a very integral part of my teaching philosophy.

On a personal note; I live north of Winfield, Iowa with my husband , Kim, and my sons Grant and Jon. We farm 1,100 acres, as well as raise cattle, hogs, and turkeys. I have many interests, which include: reading, taking long walks, gardening, and collecting antiques.

Communication is an important part of running a successful classroom. To reach me you can call Lincoln Elementary (319) 385-7765 or at my school e-mail, laurie.klopfenstein@mtpcsd.org My door is always open.
