Welcome to Lincoln Elementary and Mrs. Walker’s page.

I have been teaching since 1988 and all of those years have been in third grade at Lincoln. I began teaching after graduating with my Bachelor of Science in Education with an endorsement in reading in 1987. I continue to take classes that provide the opportunity to employ new strategies to enhance learning in the classroom.

Becoming a teacher was probably inevitable for me. Upon graduation, one of my childhood friend’s mothers said that she wasn’t surprised I became a teacher because all we did was play school as children. I also had quality, caring teachers throughout my education that still serve as an inspiration to me. I have seen what an effective teacher can do and strive to provide the same for my students. I am blessed to work in a building where my colleagues share the same vision for students that I do. I have had the unique opportunity to participate in the educational process at many different levels; student, parent, teacher and school board member. All of those experiences have provided me priceless insights into effective educational practices.

My husband Roger and I have two grown sons. Besides spending time with my family you might find me watching movies, reading books or shopping.

I feel communication is a vital piece in a child’s education. Together we can make this a very positive experience for your child. Please feel free to contact me if I can do anything to help you help your child. I can be reached during school hours at (319) 385-7765 or by e –mail at diane.walker@mtpcsd.org
